Ever wonder what it’s like inside a Netflix Warehouse, with all those red envelopes coming in every day? Come to think of it, have you ever even seen a Netflix warehouse? Well, the reporting in this story has, and it’s very a very interesting read.

In 2006, Netflix announced a contest to improve the recommendation engine it uses by at least 10%. Yesterday it was announced that a team was able to reach 10.05%. Read more about it in Wired.com.

The winning team wins $1,000,000.

A web connected printer?  I’m not even sure where to start with this.  I don’t think it’s a very good idea for websites to start integrating special software that will only print particularly well on one type of printer.

Maybe there’s more to it than that,  I’ll have to see the demo to be sure I’m not off base here.

Update: Turns out it’s more of a printer with a web service capabilities built into it. That makes more sense, I suppose, but web widgets/gadgets on your printer? Really?

Microsoft did the right thing and broadcast their E3 announcements today. Good idea!

They broadcast the video of the announcer standing in front of a field of dots. Bad idea…

The video of this was bigger, and the dots were very distracting.

Sprint will start selling the Palm Pre on June 6th, for $199.

Palm is taking a real gamble by not having the ability to run older Palm apps on this new device, and an even bigger gamble by waiting until just two days before Apple’s developer’s conference to start selling this.

I think it’s clear Apple is going to continue to dominate the market with the iPhone, and if they announce a new, lower cost version, the Palm Pre could end up being the big loser.
